Cricket is now a popular sport among all kind of sports. Cricket may be born in England but it is famous all over the world. The ICC or International Cricket Council is the head of all Cricketing Nations which looks after the game and creates rules and laws for the Game. There are three types of cricket mainly. They are Test, One-Day and T20 cricket among which T20 Cricket has grown its popularity today. Australia, India, South Africa, Pakistan are some leading Nations in International Cricket. Since the Inagural T20 World Cup in 2007 which was won by India, there has been domestics leagues like the IPL (Indian Premier League),BBL (Big Bash League, Australia) etc which gives domestic players a opportunity to perform with the International Stars as well provides a chance to play in the National team. These cash reach leagues attracts foreigners to play in the Tournament and also attracts Bookies for fixing.
Fixing has been seen before many times in Cricket. Matches have been fixed while spot-fixing are also seen. Former India Captain and legend Md. Azharuddin was caught in match-fixing in a World Cup match due to which he could not his cricketing career from then. Two years ago 3 Pakistani players Salman Butt, Mohammed Amir and Mohammed Asif were arrested and suspended from Cricket in a series againstEngland. It created a huge pollution in Cricket and Since then people started loosing faith on Pakistani Cricketers and and Cricket as well. Most recently 3 IPL players from Rajasthan Royals were caught in spot-fixing and were arrested among one is in Indian International player named S. Sreesanth. Several Bookies were also arrested. Interestingly one former Rajasthan Royals player and Gujurat player was one of the Bookie. These Bookies offered Sreesanth, Ajit Chandela and Ankit Chavan nearly 40 lakhs per over. This shows how players play for money not for pride and destiny. The IPL has turned Indian Paisa League instead of Instead of Indian Premier League. Indian Cricket has lost its pride and faith of people. If a player is getting lakhs and crores in a tournament then how can he be involved in fixing. This doesn’t signify that all players are involved in it or the tournament is to be blamed for it. There should be certain strict rules and regulations by the BCCI and ICC which the players should obey.
How far these activities will continue or the players will do ? Will cricket end ? There are lot of questions but only one answer is that Cricket will never end nor the players will fix unless they will learn a lesson like these players who were caught recently. Hope Cricket Game will regain its popularity.
